Push this one darker and you'd lose the exact character that makes Antigua worth naming on the bag in the first place. We're not offering dark just to fill out the range.
Antigua sits in a valley ringed by three volcanoes Acatenango, Agua, and Fuego. Fuego's still active, and every so often it dusts the valley with fresh volcanic ash, which keeps feeding the soil. Combine that with sunny days, low humidity, cool nights, and altitude up to 2,000m, and you've got about as ideal a growing environment as coffee gets.
This isn't marketing flourish it's the actual reason Antigua's one of the most recognised names in specialty coffee.
Bourbon, Typica, Catuai and Caturra varietals, fully washed and sun-dried. Medium body, aromatic, with a subtle smokiness a genuine trace of the volcanic environment it's grown in balanced against a light spiced twist.
Guatemalan beans are also a popular blend component for exactly this reason: that chocolatey body carries weight without overwhelming whatever it's paired with.
